About Emma Millen
My love of the sea and the great outdoors was what first prompted my interest in photography. Then a few years ago I inherited a box of old camera's from a relative including a 1950's Leica M3 35mm film camera and a Nikon F501. After figuring out how they all worked I headed out to take some shots and began learning about 35mm film photography.
I surprised myself when the first roll of film came back from the shop with some decent shots on it including one of my favourite shots of the sun setting at West Witterings beach. The photo came second in the 2007 Chichester Harbour photo competition, it was also chosen as the front cover for the 2007 Chichester Harbour News magazine. Circualtion 30,000. Fame at last!
In 2008 I finally gave in to the digital revolution and while on holiday in Hong Kong I bought a Canon 40D digital SLR. Although nothing can replace the conveniance and imediacy of digital photography I still love the simplicity of film and the beautiful results from my Leica M3. I regularly shoot on both film and digital.
In my day job I'm a camerawoman for the BBC. I work on a variety of programmes including Eastenders, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Wimbledon and the 6 Nations rugby at Twickenham.
